Harvest Time!

This spring we planted our first garden, and the kids have been watching patiently as the weeds kept growing like crazy around the tiny plants that we planted. After a unseasonably wet few months, all of the plants started finally growing faster than the weeds. It was real exciting for the kids when they could actually see blackberries on the vine and pumpkins starting to take shape. Last week we picked a zucchini that was about 8 inches long. The other ones were still very small and we figured that they would be a few more weeks. Today I went out with Olivia and was very surprised to see how big they have gotten.

There was 2 zucchini plants that were almost too much for Olivia to carry. We also got some yellow squash that was ready.

Olivia is so excited to eat the vegetables that she helped grow. We are going to make some zucchini bread and have grilled veggies with dinner!

It's All About Mii

I know it is a little corny and board line torture, but you have to admit it is a little cute too.

I got the idea for the Mii shirts from the most off the wall place. You know the car decals that depict each family member down to the pets? But that is where the whole idea started. Yes I know I hate the decals on the car, why would I like them on shirts. But once I had the idea I couldn't get it out of my head. Then the idea just kept evolving until the Mii shirts were born.

Taylor Family Reunion 2010

This past weekend, was the Taylor family Reunion, Richard's Mom's side of the family. It was held at the Altamont Group Campground in American Fork Canyon.

We went up Friday and was able to set up camp and settle while the kids explored their surroundings and played with the cousins who were there. Olivia and Emily were attached at the hip. It was so cute to see them everywhere together. While Bradley was an explorer. He wanted to be off hiking all the time. He met his 2nd cousin Ryan and they buddy up and hiked and he also played with Nathan, Alex and Savannah too.


Friday night there were a few activities that Cindy and Mindy brought along. The kids all made foam visors and they wore them all weekend. And everyone was able to Tye-Dye shirts.




Saturday was the official reunion day. Everyone who decided not to camp came up for lunch, dinner, reuniting and activities. There was a treasure hunt, a scavenger hunt, crafts, a balloon toss, and several other games. The picture below is from one leg of the treasure hunt where they had to find a dirty sock (they used Richard's because they are pretty gross).




We packed up on Sunday morning and brought an exhausted family home where most of them took a several hour nap.

Not your average 4 year old

Olivia loves fruits and vegetables. Not just some fruit and vegetables, but ALL fruit and vegetables. I don't think there is a vegetable she has met that she hasn't liked. Of course fruits are her favorite, but vegetables are a close second.

She loves to snack on salad, carrots, broccoli and corn. Every time I am cutting peppers or onions for dinner she wants to try those too. Yep raw, and she always come back for more.

Recently she ate all of our garden fresh peas. No one else had a chance! I was really bummed, I was really looking forward to them.

Today I decided to test our veggie eater with something new, Edamame. And yep she loved that too.

I am glad she loves her veggies, If only her brother would take after her and like a few of them too!

Project Overload

Here are the fun craft project we have done. The kids are real proud of what they are able to build, and they love to paint. The projects are fun, sometimes a little stressful for mom, mainly because I am a control freak, but it is helping me let go of the control and giving it to them.


June's Home Depot Project was a small table Foosball game.

I took the kids by myself to this. It was definitely an adventure. Olivia needs one on one help, while Bradley only needs help holding pieces together while he hammers. The problem, they both want (NEED) help at the same time. We eventually worked it out, and finished the game. It even came with cute little stickers, so no painting needed. YEAH!!!


July's Home Depot Project was a Periscope.

The kid's love this "spy" toy. They are really sneaky and spy on us from downstairs and around corners. They would be better spys if they could keep from giggling.



Painting

We bought these wooden creatures for the kids. Olivia really wanted a doggy named Piper. Bradley thought the snake was really creepy. Creepy is Bradley's new favorite word, it means everything from awesome to creepy. The kids were painting them one Sunday afternoon, but Bradley was too excited to play his new Wii game, so his never got finished. Priorities!!!
